Randy Grantham served 31 years as Director or Associate Director of five High School Band Programs in SC, retiring from Rock Hill High School in 2019. He has since served as an interim band director for the Rock Hill School District, the Lancaster School District, and the Fort Mill School District Virtual Academy.
Honors achieved by bands under Mr. Grantham’s direction include: Eight SC State Marching Band Championships, Twelve SC Upper/Lower State Marching Band Championships, Two BOA Regional Class Marching Band Championships, Thirty Five Concert Performance Assessment Superior Ratings, Thirty One SCBDA Outstanding Performance Awards, and Eight National Band Association Certificates of Merit.
Mr. Grantham served the SC Band Directors Association for 25 years as a Region Chairman, received the 2017 SCBDA Distinguished Service Award, earned the SCMEA 2024 Mentor Award, and was named to the SCBDA Hall of Fame in 2025.
Mr. Grantham has served as an adjudicator & clinician in SC, NC, GA, KY, TN and VA. He was a National Board Certified Teacher from 2005-2025. HMr. Grantham actively consults for band programs throughout SC, holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for Phi Beta Mu Theta Chapter, and continues to serve the SCBDA as a Site Coordinator for State Marching Band Championships.
Mr. Grantham resides in Rock Hill, SC with his wife Connie, former SCBDA President, current SCBDA Executive Secretary/Treasurer, and fellow Theta Chapter HOF Member.
