Mike Doll is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina and a graduate of Dorman High School. He received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Furman University and a Master of Music Education degree from Winthrop University.
Mr. Doll has served as the Director of Instrumental Music at East Cooper Baptist Church, the band director at Palmetto Christian Academy, and the band director of the East Cooper Homeschool Bands in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina for the past 15 years. His responsibilities include the church orchestra, the handbell choir, the Arts Academy and the middle and high school band classes. He currently plays euphonium in the Charleston Wind Symphony and the Poinsett Wind Symphony.
Mr. Doll served as the band director at Rawlinson Road Middle School in Rock Hill, South Carolina for fifteen years. During that time he also served as an assistant band director at Northwestern High School. Under his direction, the Rawlinson Road Band consistently earned Superior ratings at concert festival and other state and regional events. His band was awarded fourteen consecutive Outstanding Performance Awards. In addition to his normal teaching duties, Mr. Doll is also active as a clinician throughout South Carolina and is a lead mentor teacher for middle school band directors in SC.
Mr. Doll was awarded the “Teacher of the Year” award for Rawlinson Road for the 1998-1999 school year and then severed as the District Teacher of the Year for Rock Hill School District Three from 1999-2000. He currently holds professional memberships in the National Association for Music Education, South Carolina Band Director’s Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the South Carolina Music Educator’s Association. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Mu Hall of Fame in 2024.
Mr. Doll lives in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with his beautiful wife Susan, his daughter Abigail, his sons Andrew, Jonathan, Timothy, and their doggie Luna.
